The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Montauk Beach House in Montauk on Thursday, June 28th.

The most buzzed about new property on the East End is the Montauk Beach House, owned by Chris Jones and Larry Siedlick, and designed by Jones with creative director Walt Linveld. At the center of Montauk’s bustling village, steps from the ocean beach, guests may retreat to savor their own private holiday choosing from 33 individually designed guest rooms and three levels of No. 50 beach club membership.

The resort represents the best of classic and modern Montauk in a design collaboration by hotel visionary Jones and creative director Walt Linveld, presenting an eclectic mix of chic style with relaxed beach vibe.

“We like to think of ourselves as a rather splendid place to stay the night. We’re also an elegant way to spend the day and evening!” says Chris Jones.

There are many English touches not least because co-owner Chris Jones is from the UK. This guy is serious about guests & No. 50 members having fun! Ergo, a British sense of style, cheeky humour, and double entendres are sprinkled through the design concept~ such as the message on a shower curtain: “Keep Calm and Carry On,” Her Majesty’s direction in times of trouble.

Designing around natural light and creature comforts, the only constants in each of the 33 luxuriously designed guest rooms are high ceilings, walls of windows, the finest quality bedding, modern baths and flat screen televisions. Each room is decorated as it would be at one’s own home with cherished furnishings and elegant accents collected over time.

The south-facing Whitewater Lofts with 11-foot ceilings feature headboards handcrafted from 14-foot wide reclaimed barnwood, white-washed oak floors, board and batten walls, vintage furniture and Belgian linen drapes. In the balconied second-floor Moonlight Suites, overlooking two swimming pools, are14-foot high beamed ceilings, full height mirrors, claw foot bathtubs with oil-rubbed bronze faucets, cast iron beds and Italian crushed velvet drapes.

Poolside Ocean Mist rooms combine color with paneled walls, wide-plank floors and vintage-inspired furniture handpicked from the most respected design houses. There is scope to accommodate large groups, families or an entourage of personal assistants in interconnecting rooms including bunk rooms for mini-hipsters. Each of the ground-floor Whitewater Garden rooms boast a 200-square foot private outdoor garden with hardwood decks, white sands and luxurious oversized daybed.

The Montauk Beach House stands on the one-acre footprint of the 1960’s luxury resort, Ronjo. The members only beach club moniker, No. 50, is a nod to the original creative concept: a hip Hawaiian surf motel. No. 50 is also the namesake of the giant tiki statue sitting on property for nearly half a century. Now dipped in copper, it signals a new day in the sun for the luxe new resort!

Love this old postcard I found on-line of the original Ronjo motel!

The infamous Ronjo Tiki god survived the renovation, and got dipped in bronze (below)!

Guests can lounge on 120 canopy beds or in either of two swimming pools surrounded by hardwood decks. Sip cocktails at the cabana bar or a cup of Stumptown Coffee with freshly baked pastries from The Montauk Bake Shoppe. For nearby retail therapy, a Minnie Rose luxury knitwear pop-up shop will be located on premises. Looking for some action?  The resort has a sexy summer schedule planned including fashion shows, movie screenings, and acoustic sunsets curated by The Event Society.
