The Richard Phillips Surfboard is in demand!

Richard Phillips opening reception of “Point of Purchase,” [his first exhibition of media interventions and retail collaborations with major commercial brands including: TV series Gossip Girl, Jimmy Choo, MAC Cosmetics, Mont Blanc, Colette and Visionaire] was showcased in East Hampton. An eclectic crowd including: Ed Westwick (fresh off the set of Gossip Girl!), Visionaire’s Cecilia Dean, Josephine Meckseper, Brian Donnelly (KAWS), Julia Chiang and Meredith Darrow, were there to oooh-and-ahh over Richard’s work. James Frey, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Lauren Bush, David Lauren, Olivia Chantecaille, Dan and Margaret Loeb, and David Salle were also in attendance. Art-fiends, and owners of Exhibition A, Cynthia Rowley, Bill Powers, were on hand to support the artist with whom they have collaborated.

Known for his hyper-real, iconographic paintings, Richard Phillips’ vanguard artistic practice is defined by a dual devotion to craftsmanship and contemporary culture. By rendering images using appropriated 16th century painting techniques, the artist has reformulated the production and function of contemporary images in art and society.

*This fabulous exhibit runs until August 8th — Don’t miss out on seeing these unique works at John McWhinnie @ Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, 87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton
