Mark Addison, [above] designer, entertaining expert, Hamptonite, and founder of EVENTSTYLE~ the award winning design firm is the man responsible for producing one the Hamptons hottest summer events, Super Saturday! This year, in spite of the stormy weather, the super style of Super Saturday was as chic as ever, all due to Addison’s vision, and his EVENTSTYLE staff.
KDHamptons caught up with Mark and asked him to share his exclusive Super Saturday diary! Check it out below!
A Diary Day in the Life of Mark Addison at Super (Rainy) Saturday:
5:15 AM – UGH! First, email team “Re: impending bad weather” and hoping for a successful, but calm Super Saturday…
6:00 AM – Arrive on site in time for the beautiful sunrise at Nova’s Ark Project.PS. Nothing beats this view from 30 feet in the air!
6:30 AM – Start my day with a breakfast of coffee and fresh fruit with my team in the staff dining tent. Staff meeting set to start in about 15 minutes.
8:00 AM – Katie Dillon, OCRF’s Director of Events, arrives at check-in and we’re both excited for Super Saturday 15! Setting up the table with 7 different colored wristbands, programs, and information.
10:00 AM – Setting up the garage sale! Rachel Zoe’s booth is one of my favorites—she always has clothing, accessories, and shoes from several great designers—it’s bananas!
11:00 AM – Putting up directional signage for the site. Which way to the garage sale?
12:30 PM – Checking in with the volunteers to make sure everyone has what they need. Captain Toddy has been volunteering for 13 years at Super Saturday and even made shirts for his garage sale row saying “Team Toddy” on the back.
1:00 PM – Catching up with the rock star team at EVENTSTYLE…everything is running smoothly despite the pouring rain!
Rain didn't stop the crowds from making their way to the event!
1:30 PM – I catch up with Super Saturday Host, Kelly Ripa. We were wearing the same Hunter boots. Fashionable and purposeful!
2:00 PM – Putting some muscle into unloading the Goodie Bags from the truck! They were filled with treats from DKNY, InStyle, COVERGIRL, Popchips, ZICO, and much, much more.
2:30 PM – Finally getting to do some shopping! Brooks Brothers always brings a huge variety of men’s and women’s apparel. Which tie should I get? It’s all for charity…I’ll get them all! [Photo Credit: Carly Otness/BFAnyc.com ]
3:00 PM– Super Saturday always attracts celebrities and this year’s event was dominated by dueling housewives—east coast versus west coast~ it’s ON!. I got a chance to talk to LuAnn de Lesseps from the Real Housewives of New York. [Photo Credit: Carly Otness/BFAnyc.com]
3:00 PM – …and I met up with Kyle Richards from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, who came all the way from the west coast with clothing from her store “Kyle by Alene Too.” [Photo Credit: Carly Otness/BFAnyc.com]
3:30 PM – Break time! All of 30 seconds… Southampton sensation, Sant Ambroeus, always brings out a delectable display of desserts to choose from. The pear sorbet…TOTES amaze!
4:00 PM – With thousands of people searching for great deals in the garage sale, I
found that the best mode of transportation at Super Saturday was a bike from C.Wonder.
5:00 PM – Don’t tell anyone, but my best-kept secret about Super Saturday is where the finest seat in the house is…30 feet up in a man-lift offering a bird’s eye view of the event.
5:00 PM– The aerial view from the lift is impressive with the rides, garage sale, and sponsor tents in sight.
9:00 PM – The rain came in, but the guests cleaned up with steals and deals. Super Saturday 15 is officially over and everyone’s gone.
Post-event Note: In spite of Mother Nature, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund raised 3.7 million (soggy) dollars. It just shows that people can’t resist a good deal for a great cause.
