KDH Beauty: Celebrity Manicurist Elle Shares Five Tips To Protect Your Nails From The Cold Winter Weather!!
Is the harsh cold weather taking a toll on your Hamptons hands? HELP!!
KDHamptons asked NYC celebrity manicurist, Elle, to share some tips on keeping pretty nails looking tops when the temps drop. From painting the digits of celebs like Jennifer Lopez and Blake Lively to caring for her own nails and hands, Elle has curated a collection of great advice on how to keep cracked skin, brittle nails and dry cuticles at bay this winter in the Hamptons!
Elle’s Five Tips to Protect Your Nails from the Cold:
1. Going outside without gloves on really hurts your nails. The quick change in temperature from warm inside to freezing outside causes your nails to become brittle and break, especially if they’re being overexposed to water and detergents. All these things enable cracked skin and damaged nail keratin bonds. Make sure you always leave with a cute pair of gloves!
2. Avoid fragranced lotions like the plague in the winter! If you can smell it, it contains alcohol which leads to drying and chaffing.
3. Be sure to protect your nails with a base or top coat like Dermelect’s Launchpad Nail Strengthener. Taking this important extra step locks in the moisture your nails need to stay healthy during the winter.
4. When your nail polish starts to chip, it’s best to remove it completely and repaint your nails. As your polish chips, bits of your nails flake off with it!
5. Applying cuticle cream to your tips is a crucial step in your winter beauty regimen. Using creams like Dermelect’s Rejuvenail Cuticle Cream keeps your cuticles moisturized, healthy, and protected from the winter cold.
