The Inn at Windmill Lane: The Hamptons Best Kept Secret!

SHARE

Hey KDHamptons readers! Have you heard about the Inn at Windmill Lane in Amagansett? If not, I am about to fill you in on the best kept secret on the East End!

KDH caught up with charming innkeepers Erin Harris and Noelle Franey who share, “Our job is to make the guests feel comfortable. It is the best compliment when we see people in the kitchen in the morning in their pajamas and they are apologizing because they feel so comfortable they wore their pajamas outside their rooms!”

"We are very busy in the winter. Our guests like to come out and just hang by the fireplaces. We often make many reservations for our guests which we end cancelling and we go get take-out for them as they just want to hang by the fire!"

Built by John Hummel Construction and the architect Nick Baratta, the super chic Inn at Windmill Lane opened in 2009.  AHG worked on the “simple & timeless” interior design, sharing, “It was a very old Inn, and we remodeled the property into seven sumptuous bedrooms and three luxurious cottages.”

Erin shares, “We make sure the guests get into their favorite restaurants, make sure the they have everything they need [including beach passes in the summer!] We help with all plans regarding their trip.  Meeting House, which is across the street, serves as our restaurant.  And because we don’t have a chef, or liquor license, we make sure that we are the best concierge that we can be.”

The winter months are regarded by many to be the preferred months to hide away in the Hamptons. Cozy up to our wood burning fireplaces, bring your favorite book, and enjoy the restaurants without the wait. Book two consecutive nights in a standard suite and receive a complimentary upgrade to best available accommodation. The promotion excludes cottages unless booking Suite One. Winter promotion runs December 2012 – March 2013.

"We serve Continental Breakfast with homemade muffins and great Granolas, fresh juices, and warm croissants," says Erin.

The Inn at Windmill Lane offers three distinctive privately-gated cottages [below] nestled in a vast landscaped garden. Each individual cottage allows for optimal seclusion to relax, read, breathe and clear your mind….

Cottage One [pictured above & below] is the most spacious of our guest accommodations. It provides three levels, one bedroom, three bathrooms, cathedral ceilings, a large living room, wood burning fireplaces and a separate dining nook. The outdoor blue stone patio features a cedar daybed with a fireplace~ so romantic! The lower level is equipped with a personal exercise room and a steam room with a rain shower.

“The property has beautiful brick paths, and in the summertime, the rows of hydrangeas and walls of roses are breathtaking. Whenever possible, the flowers for the rooms come from the property. We are really looking forward to our newest property to be complete.  It will be a single family house with the same amenities and service that we feature here at the Inn.  It will be available to be either rented out by the week, month or by the summer,” says Erin.
