KDHamptons Feast End News: Madeline Picnic Co. Prepares Farm-to-Fork Picnics

Launching Summer 2014, Madeline Picnic Co. will offer pre-packaged, picnic-style farm-to-fork meals in the Hamptons prepared by Sag Harbor chef Madeline McLean [below]. Sourcing ingredients from local farms, independent purveyors, and top-quality artisans, each picnic will include daily-made, globally-inspired salads, tartine-style sandwiches, and a signature dessert. Born and raised in Colorado, Madeline grew up on the ski slopes of the Rocky Mountains as an Alpine ski racer. Her interest and love for food was cultivated at a young age traveling with her parents and sister to food- (and wine) rich locales such as France, Italy and Spain.

 

 

 

 

Madeline shares, “Living in Paris had a profound effect on my sensibility for using fresh, market-inspired ingredients in my cooking. I spent hours loping around farmers markets for culinary inspiration.” Fueled by wanderlust, she pursued a Masters in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, where her love for food and travel only became stronger. Traveling to places as far as India and Syria, where the confluence of art and food were extraordinary, she blogged her recipes, tasting experiences and culinary voyages.

 

 

 

 


Now living in Sag Harbor, New York, Madeline has concentrated her métier on making food, serving food and aiming to inspire people around her through food. You can still find her hopping from farm stand to farmers market, entertaining friends or pouring over the month’s yield of baby greens or jewel-hued tomatoes. And during the winter, trying to hit the ski slopes as much as possible.

 

 

 

 

Customers will access a simple and efficient online store via the Madeline Picnic Co. website to indicate their order size and individual meal choices. Picnics will be delivered to three pick-up locations servicing all villages on the South Fork. Picnics will be packed in reusable totes, with individual items packed in eco-friendly and/or biodegradable containers.

Picnic for Two, $50 : Includes two tartines, two salads, two Madeleine cookies, reusable tote, and customizable options such as infused waters and kid-friendly meals. Picnics available for groups of two, four, six, and multiples thereof. Picnics are delivered to one of three locations on the South Fork for customers to pick up.

 

Pick-up locations will be in Southampton, Sag Harbor and Amagansett, each with designated half-hour time slots for pick-up.
