10 Fitness Tips by Juris Kupris
1. Be patient: You didn’t gain the weight over night and you can’t expect to lose it that way either. Patience is an underrated skill in attaining fitness achievements. Don’t get impatient and give up before you even give your efforts a chance to work!
2. Be consistent: Consistency is another factor of fitness that people often forget while trying to rush towards a fitness goal. Slow and steady wins the race. Often times we start too far ahead of ourselves and burn out quickly. A little bit goes a long way over an extended period of time.

3. Eat “clean”: Non-processed foods are your best bet. Shop on the outer perimeters of the grocery store. Fresh produce and vegetables are staples in every fitness friendly diet.
4. Eat 5-6 small meals per day: Small meals timed out every 3 hours or so will keep your metabolism burning all day long, helping you to incinerate calories throughout the day.
5. Do not skip breakfast! You’ve heard it before, but it is important for a reason. Breakfast is the meal that kick starts your metabolism into working for the day. Without eating breakfast, your metabolism is going to remain slow and sluggish which further prevents you from burning more calories.
6. Don’t skip the veggies! Vegetables are the best way to fill your stomach the most with the least amount of calories. Consuming veggies will help you reach your nutrient goals and help you feel fuller without packing on the pounds. The greener the better!
7. Combine strength training and cardiovascular exercise for the best results: Doing hours of cardio alone will only help you to shrink in size without doing much for tone. Strength training will help you gain and maintain muscle mass, which will help you achieve a firmer, tighter look.
8. You cannot out-train a bad diet: Many people overestimate the importance of exercise but underestimate the importance of diet. An hour worth of calories burned during cardio can be cancelled out in minutes by indulging just a few bites of something fattening and calorie-laden. Don’t cancel out all your hard work.
9. Eat balanced meals: Meals containing all three macronutrients (proteins, fats and carbs) are the best way to go. Here are some examples of clean foods to use that will make up healthy meals:
PROTEINS- egg whites, chicken, fish (tilapia, tuna, salmon, cod) lean ground beef, lean ground turkey, protein shakes
CARBOHYDRATES- plain oats, ezekiel bread (found in the organic freezer section), brown rice, sweet potatoes, rice cakes
FATS- peanut butter, almonds, nuts, extra virgin olive oil

10: Have fun! Being healthy and fit does not have to be painful. Choose exercises that you enjoy. There are so many different options to choose from when deciding to live a healthy lifestyle. Mix and match healthy ingredients and create new recipes. Join fitness classes that suit the hobbies you already enjoy.
