KDHamptons Fitness Diary: Women's Health Hosts 1st Annual "Well-thy House" In Montauk
Last weekend, in addition with their Party Under The Stars, Women’s Health and Domino Magazine hosted an event at the Montauk home of WH publisher Laura Frerer Schmidt [below, right], aptly calls the “Well-thy House”. The private event with 75 attendees featured top experts leading home and garden workshops, workouts, cooking demos and nutrition consultations with talent including workouts from Mandy Ingber, Heidi Powell, Keri Glassman and more.
Joining Women’s Health and Domino at the Well-thy House included:
- Mandy Ingber, celebrity yoga instructor: Yoga class
- Heidi Powell, celebrity trainer and star of ABC’s Extreme Weightloss: Workout
- Jeff Dawson: Garden Manager at Golden Door; crating a backyard herb garden
- Greg Frey Jr.: Executive Chef at Golden Door; garden-to-table lunch and demo
- Keri Glassman, registered dietitian: The Cleanse
- GLAMSQUAD Hair & Makeup
- Owl’s Brew Tea mocktails and cocktails
Designed as a wellness sanctuary, the cedar-clad, post-and-beam home features natural and sustainable materials with a mix of traditional and modern elements. The house began with existing plans for a contemporary home which Laura [above] completely redesigned and customized to create a totally unique, personalized, calming and inviting habitat.
In 2014, Laura and her husband Brian Schmidt purchased two acres of hilly, wooded, land in Montauk that borders Fort Pond Bay. One of the highest waterfront elevations on the East Coast, the property combines the best of Montauk’s natural woodlands with a private beachfront. Laura sought to design a space inspired by her immersion in the Women’s Health culture of healthy, active living—that could also be a space to host wellness retreats and events for friends, family, clients and Women’s Health functions.
