Stages Musical Theatre Camp Presents "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged" July 16th
Looking for a good laugh this summer season? Stages Musical Theatre camp in Southampton presents “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare”, a comedy that attempts to take on the ridiculously impossible task of cramming all Shakespeare productions into a single stage play. The hilarious romp features three “terrible” actors who decide to perform all of Shakespeare’s plays (in comically shortened or merged form) within 90 minutes. Laden with physical comedy, fast and furious entrances and exits, popular and local references, and the actors changing costumes, characters, and plays at a hilarious pace, this is a wild and fun introduction to Shakespeare’s canon which is accessible to all. The Purpled Pheasant musical is spirited and nimble, headed by Hamptonite Ian Harkins.
As an actor, Harkins is best known for playing John Chamberlain in ABC’s Forever. Other notable credits include: American Hustle, The Knick (upcoming), Boardwalk Empire, and the Murdoch Mysteries. He has also performed in many plays through the US & Europe, including London’s West End, with the likes of Patrick Stewart, Alan Rickman, Mark Rylance, and Emma Watson. Shannon Harris who plays the role of Daniel has done her share of Shakespeare (typically) one play at a time, is thrilled to work with PPP presenting the entire canon in less than 2 hours!
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare opens on Saturday, July 16th (followed by an Opening Party & Fundraiser at the Southampton Inn Ballroom) and runs through Sunday, July 31st. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30PM, and Sundays at 5PM. Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors, $22 for those 18 and under and students, with valid ID. $20 tickets available for large groups of 10 or more.
