Filmmaker, hotelier and entrepreneur Jonathan Baker is ready for his close-up. Baker has launched the next phase of his beauty product line, est-1962, a collection of 100 percent organic in-room amenities (shampoo, conditioner and body wash). They are now exclusively available at c/o The Maidstone Hotel in East Hampton, which is owned and operated by Baker and his wife, Jenny Ljungberg.
The easily recognizable c/o The Maidstone Hotel, which is housed on a historic 19th century property on East Hampton’s Main Street, already sells the est-1962 body spray, aromatherapy candle and body oil. Samples of the body oil are in the hotel’s eclectic 19 rooms and cottages, which are designed to celebrate some of the most inspiring Scandinavian personalities ever.
Baker, was born in 1962 which became the genesis for the line’s name.
Guests at the Scandinavian-inspired boutique hotel are among the first to enjoy Baker’s line of 100 percent organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash, his art of bath. The scent is clean and classic with no harsh perfumes. “I’ve been inspired by Tom Ford. I like to think of myself as Tom Ford in reverse,” says Baker, who is a filmmaker with an eye for design. “What better way for a line to be experienced than through our sensual hotels? The community of guests that stay there are in for a real treat; once discovered, never forgotten.”
Launching a new beauty line is just one part of Baker’s joie de vivre. The new line is an extension of his prolific story telling. So is his latest movie project. He is currently producing, directing and co-starring in the sexy drama-thriller Inconceivable, starring Oscar winners Nicolas Cage and Faye Dunaway and co-starring Nicky Whelan and Gina Gershon. The film, which is being made by Lionsgate Studios and begins shooting in mid-October, is set for a 2017 release date (www.jonathanbaker.com). Baker and Ljungberg have been strong supporters of the Hamptons International Film Festival for years. Ljungberg is an Honorary Board member and is expected to attend this year’s big event, which runs from Oct. 6-10. Baker’s goal is for Inconceivable is to be in the 2017 HIFF lineup.
