Our Breezy Beach Cottage on the Bay Featured in HC&G Magazine
Hamptons Cottages & Gardens has always been my favorite East End glossy print magazine, packed with the most beautiful photography, inspirational design, and private peeks behind the hedgerow of the most special Hamptons homes. I was happy to share my Peconic Bay beach retreat in a summer issue, photographed by Eric Striffler, below…
Our main residence is in Water Mill, but we escape to the beach cottage for overnight staycations and to house family and friends visiting the East End. This bamboo outdoor dining set from One Kings Lane, paired with a lantern I brought home from Marrakech provides the perfect backdrop for stylish casual lunches and dinner parties.
I designed the oversized outdoor shower/spa by sketching it out and creatively incorporating some fun style ideas I have been coveting. A Dutch door, and trimmed shutter window allow for lots of open sunshine, the bay breeze to pass through, as well as a glass of champagne at sunset. Cedar wood planks and trim painted a white washed grey give the structure a weathered look. Mario Cantarero of Hamptons Luxury Landscaping executed my vision perfectly.
I am always on the hunt for interesting, one of a kind table top accents, which I find at Hamptons design stores including English Country Home, the One Kings Lane store, Crickets Crush, and weekend estate sales, where I found the Italian sea shell plates above.
My nephew Brady Hopkins and sister Kim stay at the cottage when visiting the Hamptons.
My longtime designer friend Cricket Burns is known as the Hamptons “Zhoosher”. She has an incredible treasure trove of collectible home decor items [available by private shopping appointment at Crickets Crush] and can turn any room or setting into a memorable moment, including the vignette she styled below.
