KDH Feast End Find: CoolHaus Ice Cream Trucks Hit The Hamptons With Flavors Of The Fall Season!
Hey KDH readers, have you heard about Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches? You may have have spotted Freya Estreller and Natasha Case, the twenty-something owners of Coolhaus, behind the wheel of their tricked out pink ice cream truck [which is a converted postal truck!]. But for those who haven’t had the Coolhaus ice cream experience, KDH will give you the scoop!
The Coolhaus concept was created by friends, Natasha and Freya, in Los Angeles where they began scooping at music festivals and local events. Coolhaus fever has since spread to New York City, Austin, a cross-country college tour and~ the Hamptons! Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches are made with homemade and all-natural ice cream [featuring local and organic ingredients] slathered in between two cookies.
The ice cream girls describe the Coolhaus as an “architecturally inspired” ice cream sandwich, set in your hands in an edible rice wrapper custom-printed upon with edible ink to commemorate a place, person or event. The Coolhaus truck certainly puts a modern twist on the Good Humor man. Freya says, “Coolhaus is just the first project under our Farchitecture umbrella [Natasha and myself founded Farchitecture in February of this year] which is shorthand for food + architecture.” Freya has a real estate development background and Natasha is an architect. “Our goal with Farchitecture is to basically explore how design can enhance your eating experience, whether it can be through product development, event planning or real estate development.”
Coolhaus offers five basic flavors inspired by architecture and design:
- Frank Behry [sugar cookie with strawberry ice cream]
- Mintimalism [chocolate cookie and mint chip ice cream]
- Mies Vanilla Rohe [chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream]
- Richard Meyer Lemon Ginger [ginger cookie and lemon ice cream]
- Oatmeal Cinnamoneo [oatmeal cookie and cinnamon ice cream]
**The Coolhaus truck can be rented for East End events and parties. The cost is $700 per hour for all you can eat ice cream, 5 cookie flavor, 7 ice cream flavors, 2 servers, and custom edible wrappers.
