KDHamptons chats with Keith about the latest in Hamptons design, below:
KDHamptons : What do you love most about working in the Hamptons? Do you have a home here as well?
Keith Baltimore: What I love most about working in the Hamptons, where I have a home in Watermill, is unquestionably the unique quality of the light, unlike anywhere else I have ever been. It enhances the colors of the sky, greenery, where even man-made structures feel organic – part of the natural world. Since lighting is an essential element in my designs, my visuals are inspired by, and reflect this beauty.
KDHamptons : Have you found a great increase in clients wanting to change or start new projects since we are all nesting safe at home due to the pandemic?
Keith Baltimore: Without a doubt people are nesting in their homes, aware of the shortcomings there for stay-at-home requirements. They feel pressure to reimagine spaces into multi-use areas, or convert a room from one use to another – home office, home schooling, gym, etc.
KDHamptons: What is the top Hamptons design trend now?
Keith Baltimore: Designing for outdoor living is the top design trend in the Hamptons right now. The fresh outdoor air is summoning us. But to social distance, sofas and fire pits and additional tables and chairs ensure safe gatherings.
KDHamptons: Is fussy finished?
Keith Baltimore: Fussy will always have its fans, but the majority of Hamptons homeowners want chic streamlined, super comfortable, family friendly designs with easy to clean furnishings (both indoor and out), plus ample guest accommodations.
