The Maidstone Hotel, an iconic institution nestled within the historic district of East Hampton on Main Street, prepares to reopen this season under the discerning new vision of Irwin Simon of ISMD and John Meadow and his esteemed team from LDV Hospitality, who plan to bring a touch of Italian luxury to the area with its signature culinary excellence. The over 150 year old boutique hotel compound recognized for its whitewash shingles and green awnings opens June 20, 2024.

Under the ownership of LDV Hospitality, in partnership with Irwin Simon and Mayank Dwivedi of ISMD, The Maidstone Hotel will present an entirely rejuvenated experience, boasting an exquisite food and beverage program. Crafted by LDV Partner and Chef Jorge Espinoza, renowned for his tenure at Scarpetta, the menu will evoke quintessential moments of ‘Italian Summer’ in the Hamptons.

Guests will savor beloved LDV classics complemented by new dishes inspired by the coastal delights of Italy. Some highlights include Spaghetti alla Nerano with fried zucchini and provolone and Squid Ink Linguine with crabmeat, uni, calabrian chili, and lemon. Moreover, patrons will be enticed by an expansive array of meticulously crafted cocktails and wines, curated to elevate every moment, including an aperitivo hour offered daily from 3pm-6pm in the garden.

“As a long-time admirer of the Hamptons’ unique blend of elegance and tranquility, acquiring The Maidstone Hotel has been a deeply personal endeavor for me. My family’s ties to this cherished community run deep, and it’s an honor to play a part in preserving its rich heritage in partnership with LDV Hospitality. Together, we aim to create a haven where guests can immerse themselves in the timeless charm,” said Irwin Simon, Managing Director of ISMD.

“It has always been a dream of mine to transition into the hotel space. I’ve witnessed firsthand the allure and charm of The Maidstone Hotel as it has been a beacon in the community for many years. In partnership with ISMD, we look forward to bringing new memories to this idyllic retreat.  We partner with some of the most prestigious hotels around the world and are excited to evolve into this next phase as a company,”said John Meadow, CEO of LDV Hospitality.

Under the new leadership, designer Poonam Khanna of Unionworks will lead a cosmetic refresh of the entire hotel that pays homage to the storied building and its iconic history. Refreshed guest room interiors are rooted in a natural palette, reflecting the timeless beauty of the Hamptons – earthy sand tones, warm amber, and soft peaches that call to mind varying hues from the coastline. Updated public spaces complement the earthy tones of guest rooms with shades of greens and blues inspired by the ocean and sky. Luxury touches such as Frette Linens, Santa Maria Novella amenities, as well as small details to the upholstery and furnishings add subtle variations to each room that set this boutique hotel apart. Khanna comments, “We want to honor its spirit and soul while adding a more contemporary and luxurious hospitality experience for East Hampton’s most discerning guests.”

The Maidstone Hotel will enchant guests upon arrival with a lavishly renovated lobby, designed to exude timeless elegance. Guests will find themselves immersed in an ambiance of refined indulgence, enhanced by a shoppable grazing table curated by Hampton’s based Missi Flowers featuring ceramic tableware and linens from Moda Domus by Moda Operandi, fresh florals and pantry staples from Amber Waves Farm. In the lobby bespoke board games from Aerin Lauder and transportive elements are thoughtfully integrated throughout the space. Within the guest rooms, Venus et Fleur Eternity Flowers bring the gardens of the Hamptons indoors with classic white Hydrangea and Rose arrangements. In the retail shack located in the garden of the Maidstone, guests will be invited to shop a curated selection of goods from Giulivia Heritage, and Tata Harper Skincare, while also indulging in mini facials from the Tata Harper esthetician team on select weekends. For those looking to unwind and relax, artists Beau Rush and Cameron Bishop will host Clay Camp twice monthly, to teach the fundamentals of the potters wheel during aperitivo hour in the garden.

Throughout the summer hotel patrons and visitors will be delighted by a visit to Gucci’s Airstream. The custom sea blue Airstream will bring to life the House’s Gucci Lido collection at The Maidstone Hotel offering complimentary fresh hot and iced coffees to-go from 7-11 AM Wednesday-Sunday. On Saturdays and Sundays, affogatos, made with vanilla gelato topped with steaming espresso will be offered from 4-7 PM, while fresh flower bouquets from Amber Waves Farm will be available on select weekends.

The Maidstone Hotel signals a new chapter for LDV Hospitality as it continues to expand its portfolio of properties beyond food and beverage programming. The Maidstone Hotel will offer a harmonious fusion of luxury, and innovation, combined with the unmistakable LDV touch.

Located at 207 Main St, East Hampton, NY, the over 150 year old property was constructed just after the Civil War by the Osborne Family and was originally used as a tannery and lodge. In 2008, the property was procured by Jenny Ljungberg who reopened the Hotel with Scandinavian influences.
