Kissaki Opens New Restaurant in Montauk and Updates East Hampton Location!

Get your appetites ready because Kissaki is teaming up with the NYC Thai favorite Fish Cheeks to open up a Kissaki X Fish Cheeks pop up at the Montauk Angler’s Club (located at 467 East Lake Drive). KDHamptons can’t wait for to enjoy this new summer hotspot, which will be open from Wednesday, May 26th through October 31st from 12pm – 9pm daily. The delicious menu features Southern Thai highlights from Fish Cheeks along with Kissaki’s full sushi menu! And don’t worry, the menu will also include sake, beer, wine and cocktails to go!

Kissaki Executive Chef and Partner Mark Garcia started his journey into sushi-making with a decade-long mentorship with Chef Kaze Chan of Sushi-san, who has a 30-year history of opening innovative and wildly successful sushi restaurants such as the Heat, Mirai Sushi, Kaze Sushi and Macku Sushi. Mark has worked in numerous restaurant and hotel kitchens over his career including the Waldorf Astoria and The Wit and J.W. Marriott Chicago.

In 2014, Chef Mark was able to rejoin Chef Kaze and Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Ramsey to collaborate and subsequently develop the menu and design for the sushi bar in Momotaro. This multi-dimensional sushi, izakaya and bar spot quickly became one of Chicago’s hottest restaurants and remains open today. In 2016, Mark debuted his modern omakase at Gaijin in Astoria, Queens. The fitting name “Gaijin” translates to “outsider” in Japanese, as Mark considers himself an outsider whose deep appreciation of the culture and craft ultimately led him to open his own restaurant. The term “outsider” is also a nod to Mark’s experience overcoming external doubts about his place in the sushi world. Rather than giving in, Chef Mark has embraced his role as an outsider and used the doubt as motivation to get him to where he is today.

Kissaki believes in honoring and sharing traditional Japanese cuisine with the world, and KDHamptons couldn’t be more thrilled that Long Island will be able to indulge in such a treat. Their restaurants are rooted in Omakase Sushi and Kaiseki tradition and bases its dishes in mindful sourcing, seasonality and quality.

Kissaki owner Garry Kanfer also signed a lease to take over the former Bamboo and Zokkon space at 47 Montauk Highway in East Hampton. At the conclusion of their wonderful renovation and expansion on June 14th, the restaurant will resume serving their delicious Japanese cuisine! Kanfer aims to bring his newest concept, O by Kissaki, to this location in late June, which will offer the high-quality sushi-grade fish alongside raw crudos and hot robata grilled items. Yum! Can’t make it to the Hamptons this summer? Don’t worry because O by Kissaki is also due to debut in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami next year.
