Alexandra Fairweather's Fabulous Shelter Island Lifestyle
Whether it’s shooting a documentary, producing a magazine, launching a drink line, or hosting charitable events, Alexandra Fairweather [above] never stops. “I grew up in the Hamptons and I’ve always found it to be the most magical place,” she says. “It is hard to describe; one has to just experience it.” Alexandra shares her exciting summer projects in this NEW KDHamptons Lifestyle Diary, below:
KDHamptons: What do you love most about living on Shelter Island?
Alexandra Fairweather: I love just being out east in general—whether I’m driving around in my car, listening to the radio, going to the beach, enjoying food at my favorite eateries, experiencing the wonderful cultural and intellectual activities, working away on my porch at home or spending time with family and friends—it’s pure bliss: my habitus.
KDHamptons: How would you describe what you do for our readers?
Alexandra: I’m involved in a number of amazing projects and companies. I often find it difficult to categorize my occupation or job title. I have found you can do a lot of interesting projects when you work in the gray area and defy a label. That being said, and having grown up with my late step-father, artist, John Chamberlain, I am very much involved in the art world and promoting the legacy of Chamberlain’s work and life as well as working on art exhibitions, partnering with museums, art fairs and various non-profits to support emerging artists.
“I’ve worked on a few films, which I love doing, and am most known for the independent documentary film that I produced and directed about my stepfather, John Chamberlain.”
I also publish a luxury lifestyle magazine called Fairweather; the glossy publication is available at premiere events, upscale hotels, luxury spas, and fitness centers throughout the Hamptons, prestigious addresses in Manhattan and Europe’s first-class destinations. KDHamptons: What was it like growing up with John Chamberlain as your stepfather?
Alexandra: He was truly an inspiration. He was smart, passionate, loving and an incredible parent. I really admired his perspective on life—he was authentic and he wasn’t afraid to be himself. I believe that was one of the greatest gifts I took away from my upbringing with him: to always just be who you are.

KDHamptons: How did you get interested in the magazine world?
Alexandra: I have always enjoyed interviewing people when making documentary films, hearing amazing stories and subsequently developing a film’s storyline based on those interviews. In many respects, the magazine is simply a continuation of what I’ve always been doing in film—just through a different medium. The magazine tells a story starting off with the first issue, stating: “Meet The Fairweathers,” a global duo with a unique sense of style, glamour and mischievous adventure. The taglines on the front and back cover of the magazine offer clues about where the Fairweathers are going to next, who they are and what they are doing. It has been fun working with so many premier luxury brands on the magazine to create highly bespoke events around the world, including VIP retreats in the Hamptons, Art Basel parties, yacht parties in Newport, pop-up gallery events in high end showrooms in Manhattan and launch parties in Beverly Hills.
KDHamptons: Tell us about your new drink line?
Alexandra: I’m really excited about Fairweather’s Hottie Tottie and look forward to everyone trying it this summer. Hottie Tottie is an organic beverage line that is free from preservatives and artificial ingredients. You can enjoy Hottie Tottie any time of day in two delicious flavors: Raspberry Pineapple Cranberry and Green Tea Lemon Honey. Check out www.drinkhottietottie.com

KDHamptons: Describe your perfect Hamptons day in detail?
Alexandra: My perfect Hamptons day would probably consist of sailing around Shelter Island in the morning, grabbing lunch at Hampton Chutney in Amagansett or Provisions in Sag Harbor, paddle-boarding in East Hampton, driving my car along Montauk Highway, listening to the summer’s new hot music, dining in Montauk with my fiancé, Eric, as we watch the sunset, meeting my family for dessert at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, and finally, dancing the night away at Sunset Beach on Shelter Island at midnight.

KDHamptons: How would you describe your Hamptons home and decorating style?
Alexandra: My home has a classic town & country feel. The wallpaper is colorful with a lot of vibrant patterns. The porch, which is often filled with blue hydrangeas and wraps around the front façade of the house, is my favorite part of the house. I love sitting there, overlooking the water.
