AWARD WINNERS OF THE 23RD ANNUAL HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The Hamptons International Film Festival announced their audience awards winners from East Hampton. HIFF is a year-round, non-profit organization with events, screenings, film workshops, comprehensive summer programs and an annual film festival each October. The Festival is the premiere film event on New York State’s east end, and is an intimate showcase of some of the year’s best offerings in contemporary cinema from around the world. With cash and in-kind prizes handed out totaling more than $165,000, HIFF continues to attract some of the best films of the year; 2014 marked the 6th time in the last 7 years that a film at the Festival has become the eventual Best Picture winner at the Oscars.
A24’s ROOM and WHERE TO INVADE NEXT, being distributed by the new as-yet-to-be-named distribution label created by Tom Quinn, Jason Janego and Tim League, were honored with the Audience Awards for Narrative Feature and Documentary Feature, respectively. ALL-AMERICAN FAMILY won the audience award for best short film. The festival ran from October 8th through October 12th and played over 134 films from around the world. “We are so pleased with the dedication of our filmgoers to consistently vote for their favorite films each year. Our Audience Award winners are indicators of the level of films we are able to bring to the festival each year,” stated Artistic Director, David Nugent.
