THE BRIDGE, PRESENTED BY RICHARD MILLE, RETURNS FOR SIXTH ITERATION OF RARE AND EXTRAORDINARY AUTOMOBILES ON DISPLAY SEPTEMBER 17th
One of the nation’s most original and exclusive automotive events, The Bridge VI presented by Richard Mille will return on September 17, 2022. Now entering its sixth year, the event annually features more than 250 of the world’s most coveted and rarely seen cars of great provenance alongside new premieres and recent debuts from top manufacturers. Set on the fairways of The Bridge, the golf club built on the site of the former Bridgehampton Race Circuit, The Bridge rekindles the Hamptons’ connection to racing and automotive development.
Entering its fifth consecutive year as presenting sponsor, Richard Mille will showcase some of its most exceptional timepieces, notably, the new limited-edition RM UP-01 Ferrari, the first watch born of Richard Mille’s partnership with the automaker. At just 1.75 millimeters thick, it’s a triumph of technical prowess and exemplifies a new approach to watch mechanics in which technicity dictates aesthetics.
Of course, there will be no shortage of horsepower on display throughout the event. Automobili Lamborghini America plans to showcase a colorful array of more than 20 vehicles with President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann also set to attend. Bentley will exhibit several of their latest models, as will Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Pagani, each returning to The Bridge as partners. On the vintage side, Bonhams will showcase five incredibly rare automobiles, including a 1957 BMW 507 Series II Roadster with Hardtop, all scheduled for their upcoming auction.
Amongst the new partners at The Bridge will be Czinger Vehicles. Fresh off its unveiling at The Quail, the brand’s new 21C V Max will make its East Coast debut alongside the 21C high downforce version. Lift Foils, the original creator of the eFoil and global leader in sales, will also join as a first-time partner. To mark the occasion, they’ve created a special edition full range LIFT3 board featuring the iconic logo of The Bridge. Guests will have the opportunity to win this one-of-a-kind board by making a donation to The Bridge Golf Foundation, with one lucky winner selected at the end of the day.
First time partner, ZEGNA, will introduce an extraordinary display that will virtually transport guests into the heart of their nature preserve on Italy, Oasi Zegna. Visitors have the ability to design their own personalized triple stitch sneakers and enter to win a very special ZEGNA experience.
For those looking for respite in the midst of strolling the greens, The Bridge will welcome Hästens Beds, who will present one of their finest hand-crafted models, the 2000T, as they immerse guests into their world of ethereal comfort. To top off the relaxing experience, true to their Swedish heritage, they will offer a fika break, replete with Swedish coffees and delectable sweets.
Guests might also choose to step into NetJets full-sized Cessna Citation mock-up, to stop by J.P. Morgan Private Bank or Alcantara’s well-appointed lounges or to pop into Compass’ immersive experience, where visitors can view some of the homes the brokerage currently represents. In a nod to the golf club setting, Technogym will bring some of their latest equipment, designed to perfect one’s swing and maximize performance in the game.
Over in the designated Bridge Next area, where some of the automotive world’s rising stars and small production vehicles are annually showcased, Rimac and Hennessey will each make their event debut. This year, The Bridge will premiere, worldwide or on the East Coast, a series of vintage prototypes and show cars feared lost or hidden from public view for many years. Just a snapshot of the remarkable line-up includes the 1967 Ferrari Dino Shooting Brake Prototype by Pininfarina, which will be making its first public appearance since 1968. One of the most important Ferrari prototypes of the era, the car was believed by many to have been destroyed. It was located in archival storage just recently. Of similar note is the 1968 Monteverdi High Speed Pietro Frua Prototype — previously owned by Gunter Sachs and Brigitte Bardot, the car has never before left Switzerland. Also on tap is the 1959 Citroen Squal Geneva show car — a wild design commissioned by Citroen for the 1960 Geneva salon as the company’s answer to Alfa Romeo’s BAT aerodynamic studies.
Of course, the event will also feature some of greatest sports and sporting cars of all time, both modern and vintage, with highlights including a 1932 ex-works Talbot built for the Fox and Nicholl racing team, multiple Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytonas, the 1962 Ford / Holman Moody Challenger III, a 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada, Porsches developed by the brand’s in-house GT department and the best of Lamborghini from Miura through Aventador.
Some of these cars will also be displayed the following day, September 18th, at a Cars & Coffee event hosted at the Bridgehampton Historical Society, which is open to the public. The Bridge is a collaboration between Robert Rubin, who has owned the Bridgehampton Race Circuit since 1981 and founded The Bridge golf club in 2002, and the event’s organizers: Shamin Abas, President of Shamin Abas Ultra-Luxury Communications, Brand Marketing & Business Development; and Jeffrey Einhorn, a Manhattan-based attorney and enthusiast.
For the first time, The Bridge will also introduce a ticketed Sunday event at the historic Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton. This garden party brunch will feature a uniquely curated automotive exhibition, alongside an extraordinary dining experience from acclaimed Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. He has planned a culinary journey featuring some of his favorite dishes from his restaurant locations all over the world. Limited tickets are available and priced at $275, with proceeds benefitting a local non-profit organization.
A re-imagining of a typical concours event, at The Bridge, there is no judging, and there are no awards. The co-founders have a shared vision for the event that is about celebrating art, design, history and automobiles – not about competition.
