Candy Apples
Here’s an easy and decadent dessert recipe from Janet O’Brien for Candy Apples:
3 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
1 cup water
1-2 tsp gel food color
Clean and dry apples and insert wooden dowels. Line baking sheet with parchment and spray/butter with nonstick spray.
Mix sugar, water, corn syrup, and food coloring in large pot, bring to 302 degrees (hard crack stage)- about 20 minutes, turn off heat and quickly dip apples letting any excess sugar drop off. Place apples on buttered/sprayed parchment lined cookie sheets to cool.
- If using store bought apples, boil for 20-30 seconds to remove wax and dry completely
- To add flavoring, wait until you are taking sugar mixture off of the heat then add flavor extract
