A square wreath gives a frame like appearance to mix it up and modernize traditions.

KDH asked reigning king of catering, Peter Callahan, if he would share some pix of his haute holiday decor. After seeing his gorgeous Thanksgiving table on KDHamptons {see pix here~ http://www.kdhamptons.com/gorgeous-check-out-these-exclusive-pix-of-celebrity-caterer-peter-callahans-thanksgiving-day-table/} , we knew we were in for a treat! Check out Peter’s winter wonderland, and get inspired to make your Christmas table as decadent as it is delectable!

A favorite ornament found at a shop on Nantucket years ago.

Peter shares, “All of our dining room table decor is a mixture of collections purchased or found then mish-moshed together: the mirror runner came from a flea market in Manhattan, the white light-up trees from FAO Schwarz years ago, my wife [Josephine Sasso Callahan] added gold beaded garlands she found at a flea market, and we have no memory of where the gold trees came from! The quartz stones were brought back from ski trips to Utah.”

KDH loves the traditions that go along with Christmas, what a great idea to carry that through to your decorating your tree? We just left mom a message to send up some of the toy soldiers I used to make out of wooden clothes pins! Hope you add some personal touches to your tree this year, and try serving some of Peter’s delicious recipes from his great cook book, Bite by Bite. Thanks Peter!

Sparkle and glitter light up the dining room table: a vintage mirror placed on the table as a runner topped with white light-up, gold metallic, and white feather trees. Sprinkled raw quartz crystals pick up the light.

Silver chargers and crystal goblets finish the sophisticated look.

Peter made these ornaments himself when he was a child!

All of the ornaments are from Peter and his wife Josephine's childhood mixed with new baubles made by their children. "We like to create a Christmas tree where each ornament has a story or memory," shares Peter.

Peter's daughter and her friends made gingerbread houses with supplies purchased from Williams-Sonoma.

"Our gingerbread decorating party is a big hit with the kids and their friends," says Peter.

"This giant jingle bell staircase garland has been in our family for years."
