On June 13, in Bridgehampton, Bill Campbell and Simon Critchell officially unveiled Topping Rose House, their new Bridgehampton hotel, along with guest of honor and Southampton Town Supervisor, Anna Throne-Holst [all below]. Neighbors and guests from the surrounding community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 22-room property, which blends modern construction from architect Roger Ferris & Partners with a restored Greek revival mansion built in 1842 and named after its first owner, judge Abraham Topping Rose.

The evening included a tree-planting ceremony, where a Japanese maple was planted along the entrance walkway, mirroring an existing Japanese maple on the other side. This act symbolized Campbell and Critchell’s intent with Topping Rose House — marrying historic elements with a modern perspective.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from the restaurant, operated by acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio and chef de cuisine Ty Kotz, were served. Pradeep Raman, the seasoned general manager of Topping Rose House, hosted the ceremony.  Guests were given tours of the property before leaving with rosemary popcorn highlighting herbs from the on-site farm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and products from East Hampton spa Naturopathica.

With the opening of Topping Rose House, Campbell and Critchell bring “understated elegance and a commitment to personalized service to Bridgehampton.” Open year-round, the property includes the main house, four modern cottages, a restaurant, wellness facilities, a one-acre farm, a restored barn and a contemporary studio for events. The studio overlooks a heated outdoor pool and affords views of the crabapple orchard beyond.

At the restaurant, Colicchio and Kotz’s menu focuses on the seasonal ingredients from the property’s farm, in addition to goods from local farmers, ranchers and day-boat fisherman.  The restaurant is open daily serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch.

Topping Rose House provides guests with a thoughtful and personalized experience. Visitors are welcomed with seasonal snacks highlighting the bounty from the farm and rooms come equipped with Frette linens and top-of-the-line electronics. During their stay, guests enjoy treatments from Naturopathica, exercise in the property’s fitness center and utilize complimentary bicycles and car services for easy transportation to the beach.

In addition to architecture firm Roger Ferris & Partners, Campbell and Critchell worked with interior design company Champalimaud to combine contemporary and traditional elements that emphasize comfort, luxury and the original antique appointments of the property. The hotel and restaurant also boast a striking art collection curated by Winston Wächter Fine Art in New York City. The assortment of bold, contemporary art complements the tranquil setting and highlights local Hamptons artists such as Clifford Ross and Peter Dayton.
