The Clam Bar is a classic seaside snack bar that has been serving the Hamptons for more than 30 years. The family-owned mainstay knows seafood, as evidenced by the fleet of local fishermen who they rely on for their “catch of the day.” Of course, clams are a staple, served on the half shell, in chowder, fried or stuffed. Summing up this popular eatery’s appeal, Richard J. Scholem, formerly of The New York Times. wrote, “The true spirit of Long Island can be found in places like The Clam Bar.” The restaurant opens for the season when the weather warms in April and closes when the wind starts to whip off the Atlantic in October or November. Like bathing suits, suntan lotion, and sandals, The Clam Bar is strictly for fair weather fun.
Menu highlights include:Appetizers: Tuna Bits, Grilled Fish Tacos, New England Clam Chowder, Clams on the Half Shell, Montauk Pearl Oysters
Entrees: Lobster Salad Roll, Fried Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with Fries, Local Steamers, Lobster BLT
