DIY Spring Entertaining: Throw Your Own Cocktails & Champagne Party
When the spring season finally arrives in the Hamptons I can’t wait to start entertaining again. Everyone is in a good mood because the sun is finally shining, the trees are starting to green, and our gardens are starting to grow. My favorite little spring soiree to host is a Cakes & Cocktails theme. I love this pretty pink dreamscape I designed with Stephanie Lessing at her Millstone Flower Studio in Bridgehampton. Here’s some style tips for you to try at home to get the look..
Most of my pretty porcelain pictured here has been collected over the years at Hamptons antique stores and local estate sales. I love to mix and match patterns in a pastel palette. The pink floral plates are from the 1930’s and were found at James Maguire Antiques in Hampton Bays.
For this shoot I collaborated with two new fab female entrepreneurs: Stephanie Lessing (above), owner of Millstone Flower Studio (MFS) in Bridgehampton, and Jeanne Purpurra who owns Sugar Rush Bake Shop in Centerport.
Millstone Floral Studio offers a curated collection of ivory, white, cream and subtle shades of pink flowers for dinner parties, open house staging, or events. The color palettes change monthly and include: Peonies, Garden Roses, Hybrid and Spray Roses, Ranunculus and other outstanding seasonal blooms. SWOON!
Stephanie also hosts flower design nights, bursting with bespoke antique garden roses and other magnificent blooms for each person to create their own arrangement to take home for their weekend table.
Sugar Rush Bake Shop specializes in making fresh small batches of pies, cookies, sweet and savoury tarts and much more using all natural, mostly local and seasonal ingredients. Jeanne’s sweet pastel macarons, cupcakes, and cakes are as delicious as they are beautiful.
A little mix of Chanel, Hermes, and denim is my version of “fancy casual” Hamptons style.
Styling a beautiful bar has become such a popular entertaining trend, I love the look of multiple pretty bottles and glassware all lined up. My favorite bottle designs are Wolffer Rose and Summer in a Bottle, and the bold orange and green combo of Veuve Cliquot champagne.
I also love serving casual caviar at the beach. I’m a devoted Petrossian girl. The Daurenki caviar (below) is decadent and delicious, and the beautiful cobalt blue packaging adds to your tabletop pop. If you’re not sure which kind of caviar you might like, you can always call a Petrossian Caviar Concierge. Trés cool, non?
