Planning the perfect Labor Day dinner party?  Hamptons hostesses know that a beautiful table top design is just as important as the food you serve, so I was happy to chat with my friend Kate Betts about the new Cabana Capri pop up shop at The Maidstone Hotel until August 26th.

Kate shares: Ever since I met Helen White in the early 1990s in New York City I’ve known her to be an Olympian shopper with exquisite taste. We worked together at Vogue where we launched Vogue’s Index, a shopping section with great insider information about store openings, fashion designer’s favorite addresses, new products we loved, and restaurant reservation phone numbers (we famously published Balthazar’s private line and earned the wrath of Keith McNally).

Helen has lived around the world, shopping her way from Hong Kong to London with seasonal stops in Capri and St. Moritz. In 2014 she opened, Cabana Capri and Cabana Saint Moritz, luxury shops specializing in hand-crafted table top pieces and resort clothing. Each item, hand-selected by Helen or created with her expert eye with French and Italian craftsman.

Every summer Helen brings a selection of her unique Murano glass, French rattan baskets, Limoges china, Ikat linens, and hand-painted glass plates to New York for a pop up shop. This summer, East Hampton is lucky to have her. I stopped by on Monday and could not resist a set of six colorful Murano wine glasses with a chic matching pitcher. Of course I had to pick up a set of four rattan glass holders, too. I could go on, and on, but take my word for it and stop by. She’s at the Maidstone Hotel until Sunday, August 26th.
