Exclusive: KDHamptons Readers Are Invited To A Private Screening Of 'Finding Fela' at Edward Tyler Nahem's Sagaponack Estate
On Thursday, August 28th, KDHamptons readers are invited to attend an exclusive screening of the ground breaking documentary, Finding Fela, which offers a sharp and insightful look at the life and times of Nigerian musician, politician, activist, rapscallion freedom fighter, and all-around rhythmic genius, Fela Kuti. The Hamptons screening of the fill will be premiered at the stunning Sagaponack home of art dealer, film producer, and philanthropist Edward Tyler Nahem. Guests are invited for cocktails and summer bites and after sunset the film will be shown on a big screen outside in Nahem’s gardens.
Utilizing an infectious forum to express his revolutionary political opinions against the corrupt and dictatorial Nigerian government of the 1970’s and 1980’s, Fela created a new musical movement called Arfrobeat. His influence helped bring a change towards democracy in Nigeria and promoted Pan Africanist politics to the world. Tracking Fela from his childhood through his years as a political revolutionary, with music as his weapon, Finding Fela is truly an eye-opening, mind-expanding, toe-tapping experience.
