Family Fun: Apple Picking At Seven Ponds Farm In Water Mill!
Seven Ponds farm in Water Mill is the perfect place to go if you’re looking to do some apple picking with the kids. Each season, I like to go with my stepdaughter Lily, and we grab a red radio flyer wagon and plot our picking [the farm has over 14 varieties of dwarf apple trees to choose from!]. We typically settle on Fuji, Gala, and Golden Delicious…
Before entering the orchard visitors are given a brief tutorial from an apple expert: “Turn the apple three times and the lift it from the bottom up until it snaps off~ do not tug the apple down off the branches!” I never really thought there was a specific technique to follow, but it works. Now I just need to learn some new recipes for all of the apples I bought…
If the kids get bored in the orchard, there is plenty more to do! Seven Ponds farm offers: a corn maize, hay rides, a wooden playground, pumpkin picking, a farmers market and delicious fresh roasted corn on the cob. There really weren’t any lines over the weekend, but they are also open weekdays if you prefer to pick in peace.
