Hey KDHamptons horticulturalists~ have you visited the incredible Southampton Rose Society gardens tucked behind the library in Southampton? If you haven’t, then this weekend is the time to go because the some of the gorgeous varieties will be losing their blooms shortly!
The Southampton Rose Society is a non-profit organization that is affiliated with the American Rose Society founded in 1976. The society is made up of Southampton rose enthusiasts, horticulturalists, professionals, and gardening hobbyists. The goal of the Southampton Rose Society is to create ecological awareness and sensitivity through community service and providing horticultural education programs that are centered on rose cultivation.
The Garden is located behind The Rodger Memorial Library in Southampton (91 Coopers Farm Road), and is free to the public seven days a week and also available for private functions.
The garden is home to numerous rose breeds including: Dainty Bess, Queen Eliza, Marilyn, Liz Taylor, Peace, St. Patrick, Whisper, Double Delight, Sun Bright, and Joyfulness, just to name a few…
To support the Southampton Rose Society you can buy engraved, memorial bricks that line the pathways of the garden creating a picturesque atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
