If you have never been before, it’s important to pay a visit to the Pollock-Krasner House in East Hampton, which has done a stunning job in preserving the feel of legendary artist, Jackson Pollock’s working studio and projecting back to the post war years when many artists of the New York School sought a quieter place in the Hamptons to work peacefully. It’s not only authentic, it’s real! You can walk around Pollock’s paint splattered floor, feel what it was like to perhaps witness him in action and view his, well, stuff. The house is currently exhibiting works by Conrad Marca-Relli, an artist associated with the New York School best known for his collage works and a close friend of Pollack. The exhibition shows eleven works created during his four-year residence as Jackson’s next door neighbor- including Death of Jackson Pollock, which references Pollock’s fatal automobile accident on August 11, 1956. In fact, it was Marca-Relli who was brought to the crash scene on Springs Fireplace Road to identify his friend’s body. Heavy.

Location: Conrad Marca-Relli: The Springs Years, 1953-1956, runs through July 30 at Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, 830 Springs Fireplace Road, Easthampton; 631.324.4929
