KDH zipped into Manhattan recently to hit the grand opening of an awesome new concept destination on the Upper East Side called Make Meaning. Darcy Miller Nussbaum, [editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings] and The Martha Stewart Family Blog hosted the event. Candy princess Dylan Lauren, celeb stylist Robert Verdi, and Marshall Heyman of the Wall Street Journal were on hand decorating cakes and sampling the sweet treats!

The event looked like a scene taken from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with excited kids running around with colorful cakes and candies while their glamorous Manhattan moms watched over them.

Make Meaning is a first of its kind destination for kids and adults to engage and have fun in creativity with 50 constantly changing experiences including: everything you need to paint cool ceramics, create jewelry [out of candy too!], make soy and “mood” candles, mold custom soaps, design glassware, or throw a birthday party that every kid will love! The hands-on super friendly staff provide tips and tricks to help kids and parents create items that you will want to save, proudly display in your family room, or send to grandma for her birthday! Party packages are offered for kids, adults, or corporate events. KDH recommendation: Hamptons moms should definitely plan a day trip to the city to “Make Meaning” with the kids. Getting dirty has never been so much fun!
