Hamptons Teens Are Top Chef In The Family Kitchen
One thing we are ALL doing during these weeks staying safe at home is cooking up a storm. I love snagging new recipes and watching mouthwatering cooking tutorials on instagram, don’t you? One trend I’ve noticed with my mom friends is that their teenagers are taking over as top chef in the family kitchen. Sag Harbor teen, India Brown (above), has been cooking for her family using the NYTimes Cooking app. Her favorite dish so far? Steak with ginger and broccoli. Here’s how to make it…
Chicken and Broccoli Recipe:
3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
kosher salt
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 small sirloin steaks
1 tablespoon coconut or canola oil
3 heads of broccoli
Step 1:
site together 1/4 cup of water with the maple syrup, pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. set aside
Step 2:
stir together four, ginger, and 1 teaspoon salt in a separate bowl. add in the steak and toss until coated. steak is best prepared cut into small chunks/squares.
Step 3:
in a skillet, cook steak until the ginger is fragrant and steak is browned. add in the broccoli, season with salt.
Step 4:
add in the maple syrup mixture and cook, stirring until both broccoli and steak and finished and the sauce has thickened.
Step 5:
remove from heat, add in lime for extra taste and serve atop white rice and raw carrots with miso dressing.
