The manager of J. McLaughlin Men’s store, Norman Polonofsky, located at 12 Jobs lane in Southampton, put his brilliant mind to work to organized a canine contest called “The First Annual J. McLaughlin “Petaliscious” contest” to benefit the Southampton Animal Shelter. Norman, who is the proud owner of a shelter pup, is determined to help the shelter which privately runs as a “no-kill” shelter, and is always in need of donations and kind hearts like Mr. Polonofsky.There were 36 dog contestants this year , and photos of the winners with their dogs are displayed in the store window The entries and votes raised 500$ which was then matched by the store to total 1000$ towards Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. Because of such a warm hearted response to the contest, it is sure to become an annual event, with entries and voting to be held for a longer duration next time. Norman’s goal is 100 wet nosed contestants.
