Holocaust Remembrance Day will take place on April 28th at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons, and will include a Memorial Service for those who perished, and the award winning documentary, “Who Will Write Our History”.  On Sunday, April 28, millions of Jewish men, women, and children will be remembered as well as countless others, whose lives were taken during the Shoah, one of the darkest times of human history.

Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Yom HaShoah, teaches us to remember and honor not only the millions of lives lost, but the bravery and strength of those who survived such senseless acts of brutality. To commemorate this time in history, Jewish Center of the Hamptons will mark the day with the following events:

1:00pm – YOM HASHOAH SERVICE – Rabbi Franklin and Cantor/Rabbi Stein will conduct a moving service to remember those who perished during the Holocaust and those who fought for our freedom. Yellow candles will be available for those who wish to light one in memory of loved ones who perished. 1:45pm – DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING:  “Who Will Write Our History” (1hr 35min, 2018). Written, produced and directed by Roberta Grossman and executive produced by Nancy Spielberg.In November 1940, days after the Nazis sealed 450,000 Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, a secret band of journalists, scholars and community leaders decided to fight back. Led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum and known by the code name Oyneg Shabes, this clandestine group vowed to defeat Nazi lies and propaganda not with guns or fists but with pen and paper. Now, for the first time, their story is told as a feature documentary.
