Juja Active Opens in Southampton
Juju Active’s first marketing campaign is a visual representation of Juja’s values, featuring images of incredible yoga teachers who personify the true meaning of the brand.
This week, KDHamptons catches up with investment banker turned inspirational fitness visionary, Jen Russo, who is opening a unique retail shopping experience in Southampton this Memorial Day weekend. Juja Active, a curated activewear retailer originally headquartered in New York City will offer activewear for every type of woman, as well as serve as a destination that encourages self-confidence and individual expression. Owner Jen Russo gives KDHamptons a sneak peek of the store in this NEW KDHamptons Fitness Diary, below:
KDHamptons: Please describe your career for our readers?
Jen Russo: For more than 20 years, my professional career involved advising retail, consumer and other companies on mergers & acquisitions, restructurings, private capital raises and corporate strategy in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Throughout my years as an investment banker, it was yoga that empowered me to excel, inspired my positive energy and drove me to be a proud and strong, yet humble leader. I recognized a need for a place that merged fitness, confidence and infectious optimism. From this, Juja Active was born.
KDHamptons: Can you explain the inspiration behind Juja?
Jen: The vision behind Juja Active was to create a distinct shopping experience, bringing together independent activewear brands in a place that embodies a supportive, nurturing culture that is not competitive or isolating, but rather celebratory and empowering.
KDHamptons: What would you say is Juja’s mission?
Jen: Our mission is to redefine the way women view themselves by embracing the power of inner beauty and unleashing their true potential – to be self-forgiving and self-accepting. We seek to empower women of all ages by providing opportunities to discover and engage with brands created to inspire through their unique and beautifully crafted activewear.
KDHamptons: Tell us about any exciting new plans for Juju Active?
Jen: The first store will launch with more than 15 independent brands, many of which I discovered while practicing yoga in small studios across the country on many business trips. Some brand highlights from Juju Active’s offerings include the first collections of Crane & Lion and Track & Bliss, Red Tiger, an Australian brand new to the U.S., Electric & Rose, a husband and wife design team based out of Venice, CA and many others.
Our Southampton store, designed by notable architecture firm Husband Wife, reflects the community’s chic, casual style, and evokes a sense of calm with its open design. From whitewashed floors and frosted mirrors, to sand-finished structures filled with white stones, the space allows the apparel to express itself. We are looking for ward to hosting a number of exciting events this summer, including a series of yoga classes that will take place on several Saturdays throughout the summer, with a portion of proceeds giving back to select non-profits dedicated to empowering women and girls. We also looking forward to building an e-commerce site this summer, and many more locations to follow!
