KDH Art Scene: Paton Miller's Montauk Exhibit: New & Works From the Archives at OutEast Gallery Through September 10th!
Hey KDHamptons art lovers! Hopefully you took full advantage of the incredible East End art scene this summer?! If you still don’t have your fix, then head to Montauk to check out Paton Miller’s exhibition at OutEast Gallery: New & Works From The Archives, which runs through Sept. 10th.
Equally loved and collected by the art world, celebrities and influencers, Paton’s work has a unique quality that the Parrish Art Museum describes as “seductive, complex surfaces full of scratches, abrasions, visible underdrawing and outlining. Sometimes straightforward, more often mysterious and somewhat elusive, his imagery has a rustic quality reminiscent of the Mexican muralists and Gauguin, and a sense of his subjects’ innocence and physicality.”
Paton shares with KDH, “Showing in Montauk at OutEast Gallery has been great. I’ve enjoyed meeting Montauk’s well known residents. For instance, one well known artist who likes to wear his pajamas outside of the bed, and another – a television personality who has a surf spot named after him, and whose show years ago was groundbreaking. Scott Pitch, the owner of Outeast, is a fisherman, carpenter…and art dealer with an incredible eye. A great guy.”
