KDH likes to cross the bridge over to Hampton Bays to hit up the Blue Cactus when Doc & I are in the mood for Mexican food. I think this cute little casita offers the best tacos, fajitas, mango salsa and sangria on the East End. It’s the size of a big living room, but you just show up and sit inside and have a drink while you wait for a booth or one of the picnic tables outside in the summer. There is a great mix of local people, hipsters, and we bumped into Michael J. Fox and family there last summer!

We convinced Blue Cactus owner Albert Geldmacher to share the recipe for the Blue Cactus Margarita [click above photo to play video!] which is the hottest drink served at the restaurant. Check out the super sized version in the photo below!

“We are going into our 6th season in Hampton Bays, and I also have another Mexican restaurant called Agave in Westhampton which opened last summer,” say Albert.

Adding,”We have Americanized the menu a tiny bit with our meat dishes for more refined palates, offering a center cut pork dish, and breast of chicken served with seasonal vegetables. Seafood dishes are seasonal of course, the shrimp fajitas are fantastic! The must-have dessert is Tres Leches.”

Blue Cactus is open 7 nights a week for dinner. Vaminos!
