KDHamptons Fashion: Brooklyn Boutique Opens Summer Pop-Up Shop, 'Beach Bird' on Shelter Island!
‘Bird’ has already established itself as one of Brooklyn’s best fashion boutiques. The authentic hipster store carries a wide range of contemporary and designer collections for men and women, with a specialty focus on promoting new local designers and artists. Bird is also the first LEED-certified retail store in New York City [which means their store is energy efficient, healthy, and environmentally-friendly]. This summer, Bird is leaving the nest and hopping the ferry to Shelter Island for its first pop-up shop!
Owner, Jen Mankins has been vacationing in Shelter Island for the past ten years and “always dreamed about having a shop on the island.” Her dream finally became a reality in June, and now Beach Bird is nestled in the heart of Shelter Island heights. Unlike the store in Brooklyn, Beach Bird is stacked only with summer essentials! Jen shares, “I really edited the selection down to the very best clothing, accessories and jewelry that would make sense at the beach. I want everything to be fun and colorful, easy and breezy.”
Shoppers can score: swimwear, cover-ups, Turkish hammam towels, beach blankets from East Africa, hand-dyed/tied rope bracelets, hand-made leather sandals, and organic beauty products for beach hair and sun-kissed skin. Mankins also offers cookbooks, hostess gifts, and everything you need for hosting a haute Hamptons dinner party!
Featured women’s collections include: 3.1 Phillip Lim, A.P.C., Acne, Alasdair, Alexander Wang, Christophe Lemaire, Edith A. Miller, Collection Designed by Giada Forte, Girl by Band of Outsiders, Isabel Marant, Maison Martin Margiela Ligne 6, Mina Perhonen, Rachel Comey, Rag & Bone, Raquel Allegra, Rhié, Suno, Tess Giberson, Thakoon, Tsumori Chisato, Vena Cava, Whit, Yves Solomon and Zero + Maria Cornejo.
