KDHamptons Judges The HC&G Hampton Classic Grand Prix Tabletop Competition
As one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the United States, and a premier destination for horse people, the Hampton Classic is a much-anticipated stop on the summer tour. Now well into its third successful decade, The Hampton Classic Horse Show is in a class all its own, both in the minds of spectators and horse people alike. On Sunday, September 4th, in one of the most exciting jump-off rounds in the 41-year history of the Hampton Classic, Richie Moloney (IRL) blazed around the course on Carrabis Z, owned by Equinimity, LLC, to claim the top prize in the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix, presented by Longines, but the action inside the ring wasn’t the only heated competition….
Each year Hamptons Cottages & Gardens [HC&G] magazine hosts an award winning tabletop design competition at the Grand Prix luncheon under the VIP tent adjacent to the ring. Designers, local business owners, florists, event planners, and legendary Hamptons hostesses take their tabletop very seriously, and commit a great amount of time and expense in creating their dream design. HC&G editor in chief Kendell Cronstrom always judges the competition, but this year he graciously asked me to be the official judge as I am crazy about entertaining and especially tabletop decor. What a thrill! The assignment proved to be a tough one, but pictured below you will see my favorite tables from the beautiful day and my TOP THREE RIBBON WINNERS, below. Enjoy!
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this beautiful event, there was something I loved about every table in the competition and I could have handed out at least TEN ribbons for inspiring floral design, vintage dinnerware, custom linens and more. Here are some of my favorite designs from the day to get you planning your own fabulous fall dinner party…
At the HC&G official table hosted by publisher Pamela Eldridge [above], Zoe Hoare of English Country Home in Bridgehampton created a stunning succulent centerpiece with Broadview Gardens and mixed dreamy vintage linens with sleek Arte Italica glassware. Gorgeous!
