KDHamptons Party Diary: Kathy and Othon Prounis Host Chess In The Schools Event
Chess-in-the-Schools is a non profit organization that brings chess to inner city public schools in order to promote intellectual growth and self esteem among their students. The organization has empowered more than 400,000 students in Title I New York City public schools and continue to increase that already impressive number. On Friday, July 17th, Kathy and Othon Prounis hosted the first Chess-in-the-Schools cocktail reception at their stunning Bridgehampton home. The party got started with a walk down a path lined with chess pieces, and charming black and white chess-themed decor touches throughout.
Guests included two students whom the program has had a tremendous personal impact upon. These students participated in the program themselves, and will be attending prestigious universities this fall due in part to their experience with Chess-in-the-Schools.
