KDHamptons Photo Diary: Highlights From Art Southampton 2015
Art Southampton ended for the summer Monday, July 13th after an amazing run. The event hosted incredible galleries and artists from all around the world and several locals including, Tulla Booth Gallery in Sag Harbor, gallery valentine from East Hampton, McNeill Art Group in Southampton, and Artists At Ross featuring art faculty from The Ross School in East Hampton.
Blair Seagram, a photographer with the Tulla Booth Gallery in Sag Harbor, exhibits surfing from familiar locations. The action packed images are taken at Ditch Plains and Camp Hero, a coveted spot for local and visiting surfers, and are very exciting. On a calmer day the images are from Cameron Beach, Flying Point Beach and more.
McNeill Art Group, a previous KDHamptons favorite, features painter Jeff Muhs based in Southampton who’s art is continually inspired by the light, water and horizon that surround him. His work ranges from landscapes to abstractions but all refer back to the Hampton’s beauty.
Jon Mulhern is a Visual Arts Professor at The Ross School and has a gallery in Bridgehampton. Mulhern says about his work, “as an artist I am often filled with abstract expressionism, modernism, pop art, romanticism, political themes, and landscapes. My works are meant to be between these definitions; I push for each painting to feel as if it was born instead of made.”
