KDHamptons: How long have you been coming to the Hamptons?

Marilyn Pelstring: Over 20 years! I love it so much because it has all the offerings of beach and country. I love the ocean in the summer and the farm stands of home grown produce [Round Swamp is my favorite-great pies too!] In the fall you have apple picking and pumpkin patches not to mention the beautiful decorations over the holidays that make Southampton so charming.

KDH: Do you come out all year round?

MP: I travel a lot for business but try to come out as much as possible except for January through March when we visit friends in either Palm Beach or go skiing in Aspen.

KDH: Describe your Hamptons home, and decorating style?

MP: Traditional, but in the process of updating to be more contemporary. When I bought the home 15 years ago, I was single and just wanted to have a weekend place to go. Now, that I’m married we are making the house more of a home by adding a pool and an additional master suite.

KDH: Personal style: You have spent many years working in fashion. Do you have a Hamptons “uniform”? Which designer do you wear most?

MP: No, I’m too free spirited for that. I do wear a lot of Ralph Lauren but like to dress up in soft feminine styles for evening i.e. Alberta Feretti. Or I might be in J-Brand jeans from Intermix with a top from J. Crew. My favorite piece of jewelry this summer is a chunky gold necklace from Steve Vaubel Designs.

KDH: What is the greatest part about your job?

MP: Everything! Working hard at finding bargains to offer my customers is a delight and makes my adrenalin flow! I travel quite extensively all over the world and enjoy the opportunities to visit new places and experience all the various cultures.

KDH: What are three beauty products that keep you so pretty?

MP: Clarins milk cleanser, Biotin vitamins for skin, nails and hair, and “Mac” lipsticks in all frosted shades.

KDH: You are always bikini-ready, do you have a crazy workout schedule?

MP: 30 minutes aerobics followed by 30 minutes weight lifting twice a week. Aside from that, I’m always on the go with my job and am a speed walker all over the city.

KDH: What is your favorite restaurant? Do you have a favorite dish and drink?

MP: The new Tutto il Giorno in Southampton, I always order the Buratta cheese with fresh tomatoes, the ravioli, and a Perrier on the rocks with lime in a stem glass!

KDH: Describe your perfect day in detail [even if its a dream day], from what
time you wake up…where for breakfast…beach…what you like to do…evening
plans.

MP: My favorite day is a morning run on the beach with my husband and dogs followed by a strong cappuccino from the “Pear”.  Little Plains Beach in the afternoon especially if I’m reading a good book on my new Kindle. The evening is all about entertaining and cooking at my home. Cooking is my true hobby and I love to have friends over and grill fresh fish, linguini with clams [all from Clam Man], and for dessert- Blueberry pie from Round Swamp and ice cream shipped from Graeters in Cincinnati where I grew up.

KDH: Whom do you admire most?

MP: All women who are successful in business and are able to juggle careers, family, friends, travel and still make time for the spiritual part of their lives like rushing to a friend’s side when they are in turmoil or just feeling sad, or attending a service at their place of worship.

KDH: How do you “do it all” ? Can you share a couple tips for our busy readers?
MP:I was blessed with a high metabolism and I try to keep a positive attitude at all times!
