KDHamptons recently caught up with Montauk power couple Rachelle Hruska and her husband Sean MacPherson. Ravishing Rachelle Hruska is the cofounder and editor-in-chief of GuestofaGuest.com, the online chronicle of “people, places and parties.”  Rachelle shares, “We have offices in NYC, LA, DC, and the Hamptons, and have contributors that write for us all around the world.” The website continues to expand since its 2007 New York City launch, and now includes diaries of the events in the Hamptons, Los Angeles and Wasthington D.C.

Sean MacPherson is the proprietor of NY hotspots:  The Park, The Maritime, The Bowery, The Lafayette House, Waverly Inn, and The Jane—on top of his 12 properties in Los Angeles. MacPherson’s latest Hamptons project? Infusing new life into the Crow’s Nest Inn, at 4 Old West Lake Drive in Montauk [below].

Hard to believe judging by her super svelte frame, Rachelle gave birth to Maxwell, their adorable son [below], only seven months ago! Our KDH Montauk correspondent Leyla Marchetto caught up with her pal Rachelle and put together this fab KDHamptons diary below!

KDHamptons: How long have you been summering in the Hamptons? Why do you love it so much on the East End?

Rachelle Hruska: This is my 7th summer in the Hamptons. I grew up in the country outside of the small town Lincoln, Nebraska. My grandparents lived on-and ran- a big farm. My ability to come out here to unwind has been crucial for me to be able to spend the rest of my time living in the hectic urban jungle of Manhattan!

KDH: Let’s chat fashion…Do you have a Hamptons “uniform”? Which designer or brand do you wear the most out East?

RH: My Hamptons day uniform is a swimsuit, cut-off jean shorts and a tee [or one of my husband’s big sweaters if it’s chilly]. When I make it out of our house/off the beach [which is rare], I love wearing Calypso and tend to pick up quite a few pieces each summer from their store out here in Montauk. At night, when we go to dinner at Crow’s Nest, I’ve been trying to step it up a bit. I love this silk tunic I just bought from Calypso, printed pants from Clover Canyon, long dresses, and DANNIJO jewelry. I love playing with my style in the summer.

As for her hubbie?  MacPherson recently told the NY Times that his “de facto uniform: Levi’s 501’s and a J. Crew light blue Oxford shirt. Levi’s 501’s are, to me, the originals and all other jeans will always be derivatives.”

KDH: Describe your perfect Hamptons day in detail for our readers?

RH: Wake up after a full, hard night’s sleep [for both myself, my husband, and, most importantly, Maxwell]. A sunny breakfast outside on our deck overlooking the ocean with a newspaper in hand. A mid morning run alone followed by a picnic lunch at the beach and an afternoon spent reading and luxuriating in the sun. Home to a rigorous outdoor shower, maybe a late afternoon tennis game and a sunset cocktail on the water somewhere. Dinner with friends and an early evening in bed.

KDH: Do you like to entertain at home? Who cooks?

RH: Our go-to dinner plan is usually dinner at Crow’s Nest [below]. While we have gotten better at cooking at home, we also love getting out of the house and leaving the work [and clean up] to the pros. Plus, we always seem to unexpectedly bump into friends we know. It really does feel like a sort of extension to our living room. We don’t own any TV’s at our house in Montauk, so a night in consists of cooking, drinking wine, music, reading and cuddling.

KDH: If you could invite three people to your Hamptons home for dinner [dead or alive], who would you choose?

RH: Andy Warhol, David Pharaoh [a Montauk Indian leader], and Peter Beard. I want to get more dirt on Montauk’s past from some of it’s best characters!

KDH: Please describe your Hamptons home and decorating style? What inspires your design?

RH: We are actually in the process of re-doing our Hamptons house this summer. Maxwell is getting his own room and we have started painting and refurnishing our design. It’s so much fun for us to work on it together. We both have been gravitating towards native American influenced pieces. We are obsessed with the Montauk Indians and their story, and it feels really natural to use them as inspiration for our home. This year we’ve added some African wall hangings.

KDH: Do you have one new summer purchase you are obsessed with?

RH: Yes!! Our Volkswaagen “Thing” [below]. It’s THE best beach car!

KDH: What is your favorite Hamptons restaurant? Share a favorite dish & drink you get every time?

RH: I think I’m required to say Crow’s Nest [my husband’s restaurant]! Although I sincerely believe it to be some of the best food out here. I love the artichoke and vegetable curry. I love eating on the sand at Navy Beach for lunch, and the pizza at Moby Dick’s is unreal. If we make it out of Montauk, I love Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor and Pierre’s in Bridgehampton [below]. They are both beyond glam! I live for a glass of good red wine, chilled in the summer.

KDH: Which new restaurant/hotspot are you excited to try this summer?

RH: Moby Dick’s. I actually just tried them out last week and am in LOVE with the pizza [they built this giant oven that reaches 1,000 degrees – the only one, to my knowledge in the Hamptons]. Apparently, they are changing the menu every day, so we will be back a lot!

KDH: What is your little secret about the Hamptons?

RH: I hate sharing this secret, but the best beach in Montauk [if you aren’t a surfer and just want to unwind], is Culloden Point. SHHHH!
