And In This Corner…..The Surf Lodge!

The Surf Lodge: The Reigning Hotspot of Montauk...
Vintage surf flicks play in the sunken den at the Surf Lodge. Typically, the chicks are more interested in their Blackberry screen.
Can the sexy beach chic design of the Surf Lodge be outdone?
KDH may have to trade up from the Lodge's lake view to the Beach House ocean view....

According to Curbed.com, Chris Jones—of Sole Beach and the MTK Festival and his partner, Larry Siedlick are in the market to take over the (Rundown) Ronjo Hotel in Montauk~ one of the oldest surf motels along on the East End.

As the current Ronjo owner has opted to retire, the Jones/Siedlick team is under contract to purchase the property for a cool $5 million. [umm, yeah I’d retire too.]

What? The Polynesian Paradise by the Sea may be washed away? Dude! Get ready for the 33-room tiki hut to be hit with a major renovation this spring and reopen for summer as The Montauk Beach House. Our advice is to come up with a new name guys~ this is too close to the Montauk Beach Club and we don’t need more weekend warriors getting lost on the dark roads of The End!

Psst…KDH Readers! Stay tuned to find out the fate of the giant Tiki. We hear that the new owners have planned a special spot for him to stay. How bout a big bonfire pit? We can’t wait to see what the plans are….It’s ON!

And In This Corner….The New Montauk Beach House!

Will the infamous Ronjo Tiki god survive the renovation?
Love this old postcard I found on-line: Apart from the swimsuits, not too much has changed at the Ronjo pool!
Could the Ronjo be a destination for the "real" Montaukians~ not just the seasons heathens?
There are as many Vogue fashion assistants at the Surf Lodge as there are surfers....maybe the Beach House will catch a wave of surfer girls?
Location, location, location: The Montauk Beach House will win this battle. As pretty as the lake setting is at Surf Lodge, the sunsets at nearby Ditch Plains beach are epic.
