NEW KDHamptons Lifestyle Diary: East Hampton Photojournalist Deborah Kalas
“Photography is the jewelry for your home. We never know what life might bring us, but you can be sure that images will last you a life time,” shares Deborah Kalas, a published photojournalist who brings her talent for storytelling to the world of portrait photography on the East End and Palm Beach. Deborah’s gift is capturing what makes her subjects unique, finding their best angles and expressions, while creating beautiful photographs. “There are many things that can make a photograph more than just a snapshot: the subtle nuances that evoke the feeling of childhood summer, a family’s special bond, the heartfelt emotions of a wedding day, the tender relationship between a parent and newborn,” shares Kalas. The colors of fall provide the perfect backdrop for a beautiful Hamptons photo shoot, here’s everything you need to know to get “camera ready”.
Booking sessions with Deborah are simple. She specializes in talking to people and understanding what they need. You can either contact her through her website at www.deborahkalasphotography.com. You can also call her for an inquiry at the following studio number: 631.324.1862. From there, Deborah will have a personal phone conversation with you to learn about your family, upcoming proposal or wedding, event, etc. After finding out more about your wants and needs, she can recommend which session works best for you. She offers three options for portraiture: Mini, Half, and Full Sessions starting at $385. Mention KDHamptons when you book your shoot and receive a free 8x10inch print!
Shooting with top of the line Canon cameras and gear; Kalas works with diffusers and reflectors to optimize working in natural light situations. If you are not used to getting your photograph taken by a professional, do not fret. On her website, underneath the FAQS tab, you can find answers to any question you might have. For example, clothing guides for what you should wear, what you might need to bring along to the sessions, re-scheduling if it rains, retouching needs and services, timing of sessions, including other family members or pets in the photo session, or any other of your concerns.
After the shoot is edited, Deborah invites clients to her East Hampton studio to view the files, where you can view the images crisply on a large screen TV in a slideshow format. Clients can choose different types of products that are offered, whether it be an album to remember your summer, prints to give family members and friends as gifts, or wall prints for rooms in your house such as canvas gallery wraps, prints in specially picked out frames, or wall groupings carefully printed with pristine quality on Masonite in high or low gloss. When you make your selections of prints and files for an album, you also then receive the retouched digital version of the file as well. [photos in this feature courtesy of Deborah Kalas photography]
