“Fall is my favorite season in the Hamptons,” shares Gary H. Tabat, managing partner of Tabat Cohen Blum & Yovino, PC.  “I love the change of colors, coolness of the temperature, less congestion in all of the towns, and the ability to make reservations in restaurants more easily.”  Learn more about this Long Island legal legend in his NEW KDHamptons Lifestyle Diary, below:

KDHamptons: What do you love most about living on the East End? Share a few highlights of your summer 2015?

Gary H. Tabat: Even though it is getting more crowded, the Hamptons is still a peaceful friendly calming atmosphere, which slows down my pace of life, gives me the opportunity to have privacy when I want it, and socialize when I feel like going out.  Also, there are so many great venues for activities like golfing, boating, and dining out – so many different types of entertainment when you want it.  It’s really like a camp for adults with no set time schedule − what could be better than that?

KDHamptons: What were your favorite Hamptons restaurants this summer?

Gary H. Tabat: I think that Wölffer Kitchen in Sag Harbor is the best new restaurant to hit the Hamptons. They have a distinct seasonal food ethic, and serve locally made artisanal wines, as well as some of my favorite labels from around the world.  Dinner on the porch of the American Hotel is a longtime favorite, the garden of Tutto Il Giorno in Southampton is my go-to restaurant for a perfect plate of pasta, and sunset cocktails on the porch rockers with friends at the stylish new Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor is a great way to start the weekend.

KDHamptons: Having practiced law for over forty years, how would you describe what you do in two sentences?

Gary H. Tabat: The law firm specializes in divorce and family law related matters throughout the metropolitan area of New York.  Besides managing the law firm and assigning the cases, I specialize in resolving the more complex matrimonial cases, through either a negotiated settlement, or by litigation.

KDHamptons: You have been voted one of the Top Ten Legal Eagles of Nassau and Suffolk County.  Based on your experience, can you share any solid tips with our readers that helps keep marriages together?

Gary H. Tabat: Kindness towards each other, genuine respect for each other, and true appreciation for each other’s role in the relationship are the cornerstones of a good marriage.  Shared values, patience, willingness to listen and making quality time for each other, being a trusted spouse and a trusting spouse, are the keys to longevity in a successful marriage.
