On Saturday, August 23rd, over 100 dog lovers and partying pups came together for Yappy Hour, a benefit for the Southampton Animal Shelter and the Southampton Historical Museum. Hamptons hounds arrived dressed up as sailors, surfers & beach babes of the furry kind to compete for beach themed “Best Costume” contest. SASF brought dogs, puppies and kittens available for adoption, transported by their incredible new Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic Van. John Ludlow entertained the crowed playing soothing saxophone. First prize was shared by Hawaiian shirt sporting beach bums, Parker & Rain, both rescued deaf dogs. Sweet Parker was born with no eyes. Second prize went to the Rottie, Shatze, and third went to Summer Sky, the surfing maltese!

Guests sipped on Doggy Daiquiris, and Woof Watermelon Coolers made with Caliche Rum, and Puppy Love punch was served to the kids with Captains Neck flavored sparkling waters. Yummy “yappetizers” from local Hamptons restaurants were passed at the beautiful museum grounds. Here’s the delicious easy recipe to make the signature drinks at home.

Caliche Doggie Daiquiri 

2 oz Caliche Rum

1 oz Fresh Lime Juice

¾ oz Cane Syrup

1 Fresh Strawberry

Garnish: Strawberry

and

Wagging Watermelon / Woof Watermelon

2 oz Caliche Rum

¾  oz St-Germain Liqueur

¾ oz fresh squeezed lime juice

½ oz simple syrup

4 watermelon chunks
