Glam Gail Tobias Takes KDH Readers To The Max Cure Event!
The renowned and beloved Fireworks event at the Duke home on Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton has been revived!
On Saturday, July 21st, The Max Cure Foundation for pediatric cancer causes, along with Luly Duke’s Fundacion Amistad, served as the beneficiaries for this highly anticipated
event. This event not only brings back fond memories for many Hamptonites, but will create new ones for attendees who missed the event’s first incarnation.
CBS Anchor, Chris Wragge [above center] and NY Mets Hall of Fame Pitcher, John Franco and his wife Rose served as the Honorary Chairs for the evening. Entertainment for the adults, a performance by the Big Apple Circus, delicious southern barbecue and live music by Washington Duke’s band, “The Dukes of Brooklyn,” topped off by Grucci fireworks kept this party on full blast all evening!
KDH asked gorgeous Hamptons photographer and philanthropist Gail Tobias [below left] to chronicle her day and evening of the big event…
Serving as co-chair for the event, Gail is the perfect choice to share her party diary below with KDHamptons readers!
5:00 am: Wake up so I can capture the shadows on the walls created by the light coming through the windows. Working on a new series called Illusions…
6:00 am: Edit photographs from my last shoot…
7:45 am: My kids wake up! I’m having my third cup of coffee, and jump back in bed for a little cuddle time with Max and Ruby!
9 am: Isabella and I decide to paint as we both love art and capturing what we see and what we like.
12:00 pm: My daughter and I head over to friend’s birthday party for her baby. What a beautiful day and loads of fun! Time for a Hulla Hoop contest….I didn’t win….Isabella was pretty good. Ahh I miss those young years~ LOL!
4:00 pm: Rushing to get our hair done before event at 4pm at the Gil Ferer salon…
5:15 pm: Done getting dressed in my white Hautie Hippie dress with our finishing touches of makeup. Ready to go with Bonnie Ponte, Chair of the Max Cure Event. I slide on a pair of Christian Louboutin wedges so I wouldn’t sink into the grass, and we are out the door!
6:30 pm: When we got there, a giant clown on stilts welcomed us with all sorts of candy items! VIPs received blankets and boxes filled with chips and yummy salsa. The children played on hammocks, and shot the basketball throws & other fun games, while we chowed down on Tuna burgers, BBQ chicken and comfort food…
8:00 pm: The Dukes home looks out over the water, and at sundown….the Grucci fireworks filled up the sky – it was so magical and a totally a night to remember!
