RESTAURANTS WE'RE BRINGING INTO THE FALL: 55 YEARS OF OLD STOVE PUB

SHARE

For decades many Hamptons regulars have driven past the oversized horse statue, glowing neon sign, and farmhouse-style building that live along Montauk Highway. However, not everyone knows the years of service behind these unmistakable landmarks. The farmhouse-style building first opened its doors as the Old Stove Pub in 1969 and has been serving delicious food and memorable roadside views for the past 55 years. After our ‘end of summer’ visit to this Greek restaurant and steakhouse, KDHamptons has all the details below.

We started with dirty martinis, a shrimp cocktail and the Greek Salad.

“When You’re Fed Up with the Chic, Come to the Greek” is the slogan that sits outside of the Sagaponack mainstay. A saying that is meant to be a subtle joke about themselves, I found to be far from the truth. While yes, Old Stove Pub did in-fact have an array of Greek dishes, I also found it to be quite “chic.” Everyone may have their own interpretation of that seemingly over used word, so for the context of this article I will report that Old Stove Pub had an amazing menu, perfect cocktails, a quaint indoor/outdoor ambiance and very friendly staff…chic!

For main dishes, we dined on the steak and lamb chops.

Visitors of the restaurant can expect a Mediterranean influenced and locally sourced menu which features some of the Old Stove Pub’s best-known dishes such as the Sagaponack Dry Rubbed Steak and the classic Greek Salad; coming from a Greek myself, this was a true Greek salad! For the perfect early-fall night, I recommend dining outdoors on the porch which is surrounded with ambient lighting.

Old Stove Pub not only boasts fantastic food and atmosphere but they also have various offerings and activities all week long. Weekly offerings include…

  • Monday:  Family Fun…Games, Arts and Crafts, & Face Painting

  • Wednesday – Sunday: Sushi Bar is open

  • Wednesday and Thursday: Pub Night – $12 Apps, Burger and Drink Specials

  • Sunday: Wine Down the Weekend with ½ Price Bottles of Wine served w/Entrees

  • Live music every weekend

Fabulous dirty martinis, enjoyed on the outdoor patio.

“The Old Stove Pub holds a special place in the hearts of Hamptonites,” notes owner and operator Joe DeCristofaro. “The history of the Pub is so rich, and restoring this property four years ago was a true labor of love.  We are proud to continue to present the Old Stove Pub to the community with something special happening every night.”

The restaurant is open for dinner service Wednesday to Monday and invites all Hamptons locals and visitors alike to celebrate their 55th anniversary with them all Fall and Winter long. For reservations, call 631-537-330o or visit them online HERE. You can additionally find Old Stove Pub on Instagram, linked HERE.
