Love photography as much as I do? Here’s a great new coffee table book to pour over: See The World Beautiful, by Anne Menke.  Anne will host an Opening Reception, Exhibition & Book Signing on Wednesday, October 17,  from 6-8pm at Clic Gallery in Manhattan.

Anne Menke has traveled the world on assignment for the likes of Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Conde Nast Traveler, usually in search of the perfect environment to shoot a fashion spread. She has discovered that these environments themselves are the origins of much of the fashion we see on the runways today and has compiled an incredible record of people and places with that in mind.

Text by colleague luminaries Tommy Hilfiger, Julia Chaplin and Andrew Niccol, in addition to the author’s own introduction, explain where fashion meets culture in ethnic populations in Latin America, Europe, Asia and North America, in this unique, sensitive, and insightful work that itself is the perfect intersection of art and fashion photography. Menke shares, “This photographic diary of cultural diasporas around the world showcases a story that is lost in translation amongst the impending threat of globalization.”

Anne Menke was born in Germany where she was educated and after an apprenticeship opened her own photo studio. In 1991, she moved to Paris, and from there continued her career in fashion and advertising photography on locations around the world, including London.

Menke’s work includes photographing for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and has been published in Self, Travel + Leisure Magazine, Cosmopolitan Germany, Elle France, Vogue Nippon, Vogue Russia, and Seventeen magazines, among others. In addition to her work as a photographer, she is the co-founder of The Costa Verde International School in Sayulita, Mexico.
