On July 27th, Super Saturday, the world’s most famous designer garage sale, raised $3.5 million for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Lisa Chase, KDHamptons correspondent and founder of www.CelebrityEverything.com, caught up with Susan Lucci on the grass carpet to chat about what she loves most about the event, the Hamptons, fashion, her workout routine, and the scoop on her new show ‘Devious Maids’.

KDHamptons: What does Super Saturday mean to you today?

Susan: It should mean something to all of us as women. Ovarian cancer is potentially affecting all of our lives, but hopefully we find a cure from events like this and it’s fun to be here. It doesn’t get better than that.

KDHamptons: Susan, how would you describe your style?

Susan Lucci: Simple, classic and hopefully glamorous. I feel very lucky to have worked with costume designers and learned over time. One tip I’ve remembered is because I’m very petite, a nude color shoe is good for looking taller and elongating the leg.

KDHamptons: Last year at Super Saturday,  you and I were chatting about your workout routine and you noted you awake very early every morning to work out. Are you still getting up at the crack of dawn?

Susan: Yes, to do Malibu Pilates. I get up, have my coffee, and at 4:30 in the morning, I just do it – and love the results.

KDHamptons: And I see you’re carrying a Louis Vuitton purse.

Susan: I’m trying to downsize on purses. When I go to work, I constantly carry big bags on each hand, because we never know what’s going to be called for the day we show up. So as an actress I’ve gotten used to that. But I try to give my shoulder and myself a break when I can, so I consolidate to a small bag. Sometimes I look at my big bags and think, ‘I could jump in there too!’

KDHamptons: So, tell me all about “Devious Maids.”

Susan: ‘Devious Maids’ is ‘Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry’s new show, and I’m so happy to be a part of it. It’s on Lifetime on Sunday nights and it’s so good! The cast is amazing and Marc Cherry’s an incredible writer. And lucky me, I get to be a part of it.

KDHamptons: Talk to me about your character, Genevieve.

Susan: Genevieve Delatour, the show is about five Latino maids in Beverly Hills households and I have two maids in my household and one is in love with my son. The show is hilarious and touching and intriguing.

KDHamptons: What have you learned about maids that you didn’t know prior to the show?

Susan: I have had a wonderful woman, Frieda, who has been with us since my daughter was a baby and my son wasn’t even born yet and she’s fantastic. But last week saw the episode where my TV maid, Zoila, was combing my hair and I thought, ‘Oh my goodness,’ she’s watching this at home thinking, ‘Do I have to comb her hair now??’ (laughs)
